Batch Processing NMS Prescriptions

When NMS prescriptions are processed as part of a batch, and are rejected or failed, the batch displays the failed prescription as a separate grouping in the Batch Profile window. They are grouped under the heading Narcotic Monitoring System Responses.

Handling Failed and Rejected NMS Transactions

The Prescription Information column indicates if a prescription is failed or rejected. The response code(s) are displayed to the right of the word Failed or Rejected.

  • Failed means the transaction did not reach the NMS. Highlight all Failed prescriptions and select the Submit button. The prescriptions will be resubmitted to the NMS.
  • Rejected indicates there is a problem with the prescription due to missing or invalid data. Highlight the Rejected prescription(s) and select the Detail button. The Rx Detail > Third Party tab is displayed for the NMS claim. View the response information, make the necessary corrections and select the Submit button.

Refusing Prescriptions from the Batch

When a prescription is cancelled from the Batch Profile using the Refuse button, the NMS transaction will be reversed online, along with the prescription.
