Reauthorizing a Prescription with Refills Remaining

Reauthorization (referred to as “ReAuth”) occurs when a patient brings in a new prescription for medication that already exists on his/her profile. For efficiency purposes, you can copy the existing prescription and proceed to making any changes as required.

To reauthorize a prescription with refills remaining in PharmaClik Rx:

  1. Select the Patient button to search for and select a patient.
  2. Select the Profile tab.
  3. Highlight to select the prescription(s) with repeats.
  4. Select the Refill button. The prescription(s) open in Rx Detail.
  5. In the QA field, type 0 to remove the quantity authorized for the previous prescription.
  6. Press the Tab key to update the field with the newly added information. The following PharmaClik Rx - Validation Error window opens.
    1. Select No to reauthorize the prescription and remove previous repeats.
    2. Note: Selecting Yes returns you to Rx Detail to refill the quantity authorized previously in the QA field. This option allows you to refill the first prescription that has repeats. The Rx tab is now labeled Rx: ReAuth.

  7. In the QA field, type the amount authorized by the new prescription.
  8. Press the Tab key on your keyboard.
  9. Select the Fill button.
