Intervention Code UT
Use this code only for patients receiving frequent dispensing.
- A pharmacy dispenses, in a single fill, the entire prescribed supply of a medication for a defined duration of therapy with a Days Supply (DS) of 27 days or less--that is, a medication intended to treat a temporary or intermittent condition (e.g. antibiotics, antifungals, antivirals, short-term pain medications, etc.).
- Do not use this intervention code for subsequent, repetitive fills of the same medication.
- No response codes will be returned from PharmaNet.
How this works in PharmaClik Rx
When dispensing a claim for a PharmaCare patient and the Days Supply (DS) is between 2 and 27 the following prompt will be displayed as a reminder to advise the user to use the intervention code of "UT" - Treatment of an Acute Condition for the appropriate drug classification.
A PharmaClik Rx - Capitation prompt displays: Is this prescription for Acute treatment?
- When Yes is selected, the UT intervention code will be automatically inserted into the transaction to be submitted to PharmaCare.
- When No is selected, there will be no UT intervention transmitted with the claim.
The user is permitted to use the UT intervention code with any claim, even if PharmaClik Rx does not display the prompt. For example: When dispensing an OTC product that meets the policy requirements.
To enter the UT intervention code, do the following:
- Open the incomplete prescription in Rx Detail.
- Select the Third Party tab.
- Select the Add button
- Enter UT in the Intervention Code field.
- Continue filling the prescription as usual.
Audits
Use of the intervention code DQ is subject to audit. PharmaCare requires pharmacists to document the reason for the use of this intervention code in a manner accessible for audit purposes. For example, you may wish to add a notaton to the File Hard Copy.
